Bob Hughes is the immediate past Chairman of Surrey Area, and a former Chairman of Guildford Conservatives. He is Surrey County Councillor for the Shere Division and Chairman of the Resources & Performance Committee. He is also a Guildford Borough Councillor for the Tillingbourne.

Previously he was the Conservative MP for Harrow West and served in Government as a Government Whip and the Junior Minister in the Cabinet Office for science and research, public services and the civil service.

Until 2023 he was Chief Executive of Sight for Surrey which supports and empowers people with sight and hearing loss across Surrey. Before being elected to Parliament he worked for BBC Television News as an editor, producer and director.
